Four-Point Approach

What is the Main Street project? Simply stated it is a program to restore/maintain “downtown” as the commercial and cultural center of our city. It uses a four point approach which together creates a total image for downtown. The four points include economic restructuring, promotion, organization and design. It builds on existing resources and fosters strong leadership and community wide support.

Main Street Cordell, Inc.

Cordell Main Street is a combined effort of the local, state and national Main Street programs all of which have the same goal: rejuvenation of our downtown area. Your membership in Cordell Main Street is not only critical in reaching this goal, but permits you to have a voice in the direction we will take. If downtown Cordell is to continue to be a reliable marketplace, retailers, property owners, professionals, and concerned citizens must recognize their interdependence and work together to solve problems which are of mutual concern. Main Street Cordell, Inc. is entirely funded by memberships and fundraisers.

Membership Benefits

Many people have the impression that Main Street is an organization of retailers. This is not the case. Professionals, property owners, and citizens also have a vested interest in the health of the downtown area. If downtown Cordell does not remain a prosperous business district, the building will become rundown, vacated and the entire city will suffer. But a healthy and vibrant downtown fosters economic growth and civic pride.

Some of the benefits resulting from the efforts of a strong downtown include:

Organization:

  • Communicates with state and federal agencies and remains current on resources available to Main Street.
  • Maintains external and internal communications.
